Message from ALM President, James Mangini, RLLD

ALM wants to take this opportunity to salute the US Veterans who have served our country and the role of many of them in our industry today and are seeking to give-back this year by supporting a valued organization that directly benefits our brave men and women. As a leader who happens to see the daily benefits of this program it is important to continue to support those who have returned from serving our country. Below are the benefits that Kyle Verrill, my direct report, receives from his dog: During my time in the armed forces I have many great memories as well as some that aren't so pleasant. In 2015 I was diagnosed with PTSD with anxiety and depression. My K9 is there for me even when I don't know I need it. Dogs pick up on senses that we humans cannot feel from others. My K9 recognizes when my anxiety is high even when I do not. When he recognizes this , he is close to me, to help me take my mind of troubling thoughts. At night when I am asleep my K9 recognizes when my dreams are not pleasant and he will place his body on mine to create pressure and help me. There have been many nights where I have been in a very dark place where I saw no way out, my K9 refused to leave myside and laid with me through the night. I can honestly say that my K9 has gotten me through some of the darkest and lowest times of my life. It amazing that a being that cannot speak has that much of an impact. My fellow veterans with K9s will all agree with me in saying that K9s are a Godsend for those of us struggling with unseen demons and issues in our lives. Kyle Verrill Manager, Distribution Operations MaineHealth | Supply Chain \ Warehouse / Distributions It costs over $50,000 to breed, raise, train, and place one assistance dog & America's VetDogs relies on contributions to fund these efforts. Please consider helping this all import service to our men and women of the armed forces for all that they have endured. You can contribute online, at the ALM booth #1036, or meet these treasured dogs on Sunday, July 31st and donate to show your support for our Veteran's and this amazing organization!
