America’s VetDogs and Charlie, TODAY’s “Puppy with a Purpose” Team Up for National Military Appreciation Month

America’s VetDogs Launches Operation VetDogs to Support Veterans with Disabilities

Smithtown, NY (May 1, 2017) – America’s VetDogs, a not-for-profit that provides specially trained guide and service dogs to disabled veterans, and home to TODAY’s ‘Puppy with a Purpose’ Charlie, is excited to announce the launch of Operation VetDogs (Operation.VetDogs.org).  The campaign, in recognition of National Military Appreciation Month, will run throughout May with a goal to raise $500,000 in an effort to sponsor “Charlie’s Squad,” the initiative’s ten service dogs for veterans with disabilities.

Special service dogs like Charlie, cost more than $50,000, but disabled veterans NEVER have to pay for their dog and training at America’s VetDogs. All of our services are provided free of charge thanks to the generosity of individuals, corporations, foundations, and service and fraternal clubs.

To kick off this special May campaign, we are thrilled to announce that a team of generous America’s VetDogs donors has already committed to the first $250,000, but we need help to raise the remaining $250,000.

Individuals, corporations, foundations, businesses, and service and fraternal clubs can support “Charlie’s Squad” by making a donation or hosting their own fundraiser with proceeds benefiting Operation VetDogs.  To learn more, to make a gift, or to create a supporting fundraising campaign, visit Operation.VetDogs.org.

When supporters donate to Operation VetDogs, they help a veteran with disabilities take another step closer to the life they used to lead. When a service dog from “Charlie’s Squad” gets placed with a veteran, they not only help the veteran, but the veteran’s entire family.

Charlie is leading the charge, and with the public’s support, together we can help 10 future service dogs be a part of Operation VetDogs. Donate today at Operation.VetDogs.org
